Overview

 

 

We aim to make every project straightforward, well-managed, and finished to a high standard. These terms set out how we work, what you can expect from us, and what we require from you.

 

 

 

 

Quotations

 

 

  • All quotations are valid for 30 days

  • Quotes are based on visible conditions at the time of inspection

  • Any additional or unforeseen works will be discussed and agreed before proceeding

 

 

Please note: Older properties often reveal hidden issues once work begins (e.g. rot, structural movement, outdated services). These are not included unless specifically stated.

 

 

 

 

Deposit & Payments

 

 

  • A 50% manufacturing deposit is required to:

    • Secure materials

    • Allocate workshop time

    • Schedule installation

  • The remaining balance is due:

    • On completion, or

    • In agreed stages for larger projects

  • Smaller invoices are payable upon receipt

 

 

We reserve the right to pause works where payments are overdue.

 

 

 

 

Lead Times

 

 

  • All lead times are estimated, not guaranteed

  • Delays can occur due to:

    • Material supply

    • Weather

    • Access or site conditions

 

 

We will always keep you informed and aim to minimise disruption.

 

 

 

 

What We Do

 

 

We:

 

  • Deliver high-quality joinery and building work

  • Combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques

  • Use materials suited to the project and environment

  • Maintain clear communication throughout

  • Leave your property safe and tidy at the end of each working day

 

 

 

 

 

What We Don’t Do

 

 

We do not:

 

  • Carry out work outside the agreed scope without approval

  • Guarantee exact matches to existing finishes or materials

  • Accept responsibility for:

    • Hidden defects not visible at survey stage

    • Work carried out by others

    • Client-supplied materials unless agreed

 

 

 

 

 

Client Responsibilities

 

 

To keep the project running smoothly, we ask that you:

 

  • Provide clear access during agreed working hours

  • Ensure power and water are available if required

  • Remove or protect belongings in work areas

  • Make timely decisions when required

  • Arrange permissions (planning/building control) unless agreed otherwise

 

 

 

 

 

Materials & Finishes

 

 

  • Timber is a natural material and may vary in:

    • Grain

    • Colour

    • Movement over time

  • Painted finishes may require:

    • Additional coats

    • Ongoing maintenance depending on exposure

 

 

 

 

 

Guarantee

 

 

We stand by our workmanship and offer a 12-month guarantee.

 

This does not cover:

 

  • General wear and tear

  • Movement in buildings or materials

  • Lack of maintenance

  • Damage caused by others

 

 

 

 

 

Cancellations

 

 

If works are cancelled after acceptance:

 

  • Deposits may be retained to cover:

    • Materials purchased

    • Time allocated

    • Work already undertaken

 

 

 

 

 

Ownership

 

 

All goods remain the property of Veritas until paid for in full.

 

 

 

 

Liability

 

 

Our liability is limited to the value of the work carried out.

 

 

 

 

Governing Law

 

 

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland.
